A Cape Coral man is facing a felony criminal mischief charge after police say he was caught near a Four Freedom’s park gazebo he had defaced with spray paint.

Officers answering a call for service Saturday regarding a criminal mischief in progress at the park at 4818 Tarpon Court were told a man was spray-painting a trashcan, gazebo, tables and the floor, and was also seen tossing the spray paint can into the nearby water.

They found Thatcher Allen Greenwood, 25, 710 S.E. 46th Terrace #1 sitting near one of the “freshly graffitied gazebos,” with “wet blue spray paint all over his hands and forearms in the same color as the graffiti,” according to a statement from the CCPD issued today.

Greenwood confessed to the fresh graffiti at the city-owned park, the release states.

Greenwood was transported to Lee County Jail where he remained in custody Tuesday afternoon. Bond had been set at $750 for the criminal mischief charge. No bond had been set for a separate violation of probation charge, according to jail records.
