A passenger in an SUV suffered minor injuries Tuesday when a large rock fell off the back of a pickup truck, bounced off the highway and smashed through the front windshield of the vehicle.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, at approximately 11:19 a.m., the SUV was traveling south in the center lane of Interstate 75 in Collier County at Mile Marker 111 behind a pickup truck traveling south in the right lane when the rock fell off the truck.

A 37-year-old female was in the front passenger seat of the SUV when the rock bounced up and came through the windshield, striking her in the right shoulder area. She suffered minor injuries, according to the FHP.

The driver of the SUV, a 43-year-old male, and a 9-year-old girl, who was also a passenger in the vehicle, were uninjured. All three are from Brattleboro, Vermont.

The pickup truck exited the highway at Immokalee Road and remains unknown, the FHP said. If anyone has information about the incident, they are asked to please contact the FHP.
