Suicide reported inside Cape Coral Hospital

By CJ HADDAD - | Sep 3, 2021

A man took his own life inside of a Cape Coral Hospital bathroom Thursday night.

Cape Coral Police Department officials confirmed that officers responded to the hospital just before 7:30 p.m. in regard to a man locked in a bathroom with a gun, threatening his own life.

CCPD Master Sergeant Philip Mullen said the area was cleared and that officers attempted to talk him out peacefully but were unsuccessful.

“Unfortunately, the man chose to take his own life,” Mullen said.

No one else was harmed or threatened at the scene.

The man was not identified.

“We encourage anyone in distress or contemplating self-harm to reach out to someone; loved ones, a mental health professional, us here at the police department or a hotline dedicated to helping those in need,” Mullen added.
