City sets bulk item disposal, household chemical waste collection, for Aug. 7

By Staff | Jul 20, 2021

The city of Cape Coral is partnering with Waste Pro and Lee County’s Solid Waste Division to collect bulk items and household chemical waste at a disposal event to be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, in the City Hall parking lot at 1015 Cultural Park Boulevard.

These quarterly events provide another option to residents for the removal of large items as well as a safe and responsible way to dispose of household chemical waste, officials said.

Residential bulk item collection is available each week. Bulk items are collected one service day after trash and recycling containers are emptied.

Items that will be accepted at the event include:

Drain cleaners

Pool chemicals

Pesticides/herbicides

Liquid paint and thinners

Polishes and strippers

Fluorescent tubes

Electronics

Car and boat batteries

Auto oil

Gas propane tanks

Appliances

Mattresses

Yard Waste

The county’s HCW and electronics recycling facility is located in Fort Myers at 6441 Topaz Court. It is open Monday through Friday, and the first Saturday of each month.

Materials for drop-off will be collected from trunks of vehicles and the beds of trucks. Proof of residency may be required to drop off items. Proof of residency may include photo identification with a Cape Coral address or photo identification and a utility bill, with an active Cape Coral utility account.
