With the sun now blazing and the weather getting hot in Southwest Florida, Sun Splash Family Waterpark is the perfect cool spot for a day of fun, and this weekend, you can treat mom.

The region’s largest water park is once again offering free admission in honor of Mother’s Day this Saturday and Sunday with the purchase of a regular priced child or teen general admission ticket.

And for the special occasion, Sun Splash Waterpark Manager Sandra Greiner has extended park hours for the first “Family Slide Night” of the season on Saturday.

“It’s a way to honor our moms once a year, it’s a good thing for the community and it’s just a good thing for our moms,” Greiner said. “It’s usually turns into a great family day with mom and dad and the kids.”

With the park currently operating at 75% capacity, Greiner said extending the hours on Saturday gives more families a chance to take advantage of the deal. Sun Splash offers a discounted rate after 5 p.m., and mothers will still be able to get in free.

The park also will raffle off a variety of prizes to moms during the weekend including tickets to Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and gift certificates to Red Salon, Discount Pets and Supplies in Cape Coral, and Marker 92 at the Westin.

Greiner said some offseason maintenance, including new paint and resurfacing of slides, has Sun Splash in tip-top shape.

“The park looks absolutely amazing right now,” she said. “We were closed a few extra months last year so we made more improvements and then went into the offseason. We painted, had some slides gel-coated so they are riding better. It really makes a difference in the experience.”

Sun Splash staff are continuing to implement their social distancing and sanitation measures, such as more spacing at the ticket booths, attraction lines and restaurant areas marked by tape; one-way traffic in the gift shop; sanitation of public life jackets between uses; more frequent checks and cleaning of the restrooms; and regular public announcements made over the speaker reminding guests about social distancing.

The park features 14 acres of attractions, including “Pirates Cove” for youth and adults alike.

Sun Splash has lots to offer not just kids, but the whole family. You can relax along the Main Stream River Tube Ride as is gently navigates you through the park. For the more adventurous, Thunder Bump, Terror Tube and the X-celerator drop guests down a five-story incline, perfect for the adrenaline rush you’re looking for. Flumes, tunnels and slides all find a home at Sun Splash, varying in size and ferocity. Grab a summertime snack or adult beverage at the Calypso Cafe or simply soak up the sun in a lounge chair poolside.

Sun Splash is at 400 Santa Barbara Blvd. For more information about Sun Splash, the season operating schedule, admission rates and directions to the park, call 239-574-0558 or visit www.SunSplashWaterpark.com.
