The Florida Department of Health-Lee and Lee County Government have announced that their joint COVID-19 vaccination site will relocate to the former Sears location at the Edison Mall, 4125 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers.

This is anticipated to begin the week of April 12.

“FDOH-Lee selected a fully climate-controlled location due to increasing seasonal temperatures and humidity, as well as soon-to-come summer thunderstorms,” officials said.

The new site is centrally located along public transportation routes, is about 5 miles from Interstate 75 and offers ample parking. It is easily accessed and could accommodate expanded evening and weekend hours of operation.

The site will vaccinate eligible individuals registered through the State of Florida website, https://myvaccine.fl.gov/, or 866-200-3468. Gov. Ron DeSantis recently expanded eligibility to everyone age 40 and older and for all remaining adults as of Monday.

The FDOH-Lee current vaccination site is located in temporary structures near Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and has been open since early January.

People with existing appointments at the RSW site are not affected.

Individuals who have second does pending will be directed to the new indoor site at an appointed date and time.

Individuals who received first doses at RSW between March 18 and Tuesday, March 30, will receive a call in the coming weeks from the state’s vendor, Tidal Basin, to schedule their second-dose appointments at the indoor site.

Regardless of where an individual’s vaccination will be administered – at the RSW site or the future, indoor site – people are asked to expedite the process and print and complete the COVID-19 Vaccine Screening and Consent Form before arrival for both first and second doses.
