Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida to hold a bone marrow donor drive for 8-year-old

JaKobe “Kobe” Washington, 8, is in need of a blood marrow or stem cell transplant. Be the Match, Lee Health will hold a bone marrow drive-thru event his Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at at Golisano Children’s Hospital, 9981 S. Healthpark Dr., Fort Myers 33908, Parking area B3-4.

Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida will hold a bone marrow donor drive from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday to support an 8-year-old boy in need of a transplant.

In partnership with Be the Match, Lee Health will be hold a drive-thru event to support JaKobe “Kobe” Washington who is diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Because Kobe is African American he has a 23% chance of finding a match, officials said.

The process to see if a person is a match for Kobe is simple. And potential donors don’t have to leave their car — just drive up, swab their cheek and place the sealed kit in the drop off box.
