Welcome to the World, Baby; it’s a Super (Bowl) day
This past Super Bowl Sunday was one a pair of Southwest Florida families will never forget.
A Huggies commercial featuring newborns from around the country that aired early in the second quarter included a baby from Cape Coral Hospital and another from HealthPark Hospital in Fort Myers.
Khloe Goodson was welcomed into the world at 5:44 a.m. Sunday morning at Cape hospital, ready to make her debut to the world just hours later. Parents Brittany and Jeremy are big-time football fanatics (especially of Tom Brady, as Jeremy is a Massachusetts native) and were thrilled to be able to celebrate the birth of their daughter and watch their favorite player make history yet again.
“It was just so amazing to be able to watch Tom Brady celebrate another Super Bowl and then have this little girl be part of that — it was just so special for our family how it worked out,” Brittany said.
Khloe was first expected to arrive on the 4th (Brittany’s birthday) and when that day came and went, the due date was pushed back to sometime around Valentine’s Day. Of course, Khloe had plans of her own and on Saturday morning, Brittany checked into Cape Coral Hospital.
Lee Health was one of 10 health care systems who were involved in Huggies’ Super Bowl ad, and even though health care workers told Brittany her baby wouldn’t arrive for another 48 hours (there was a midnight to 7 a.m. deadline window on Sunday for newborns to make the ad), they had her register for the commercial just in case.
“She was not supposed to be here that fast,” Brittany said. “She wanted to watch this game with her mom and dad.”
At 3:30 Sunday morning Brittany’s water broke and just before 6 a.m., healthy, 7-pound 5-ounce Khloe had arrived.
“It wasn’t me, it was all her,” Brittany joked.
Pictures were taken and sent to Huggies and soon after, the new parents received word their daughter would be featured.
That evening at the hospital, husband and wife ordered a pizza and watched the Super Bowl with their newborn, eagerly anticipating seeing their hours-old daughter in the commercial and enjoying a Buccaneer win.
“In all honesty there are no words to describe it,” Brittany said. “It took mine and my husband’s breath away. It was one of the coolest life experiences that we could have ever had. It was perfect.”
Over at HealthPark, newborn Emmit arrived to the world at 1:29 a.m. and also had his picture in the commercial.
Brittany said they will use money received for being in the ad to start a college fund for Khloe. They also will receive a years worth of Huggies diapers and other merchandise/apparel.
The commercial can be viewed on Huggies’ YouTube page titled, “Welcome to the World, Baby.”
