Vintage Market Days coming back to Civic Center
After being cancelled last year just as it was about to be held, Vintage Market Days are back at the Lee Civic Center this coming weekend, where people can get vintage and vintage-inspired merchandise.
The event will be held from Friday to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with those purchasing three-day passes having a chance to get the jump on other shoppers with an early shopping opportunity Friday at 9 a.m.
Among the items available at Vintage Market Days are vintage and repurposed, handmade items. They will have jewelry, furniture, clothing, home decor and much more. There will also be more modern vendors and several food trucks.
Meri Stoute, who runs the event, said she got the idea when she and her husband ran a Cajun food truck in Louisiana.
“We were looking for festivals to go to and we saw a Vintage Market Days event in Lake Charles. We did that then went on the trail with them from Arkansas to Savannah to San Antonio,” Stoute said. “We decided to give that one up and start up this one.”
The fall events in 2019 and 2019 were big successes with some vendors saying they set sales records there and looking forward to the spring 2020 show, which never happened.
Stoute said last year was heartbreaking, as the event was to be held the weekend after St. Patrick’s Day, but was cancelled by COVID, making 2020 a complete loss.
“We were leaving on the 15th to come out for the show and everything shut down that Friday. We had scheduled it for September but we had to postpone that one as well,” Stoute said. “This is the first time we’re back since the fall of 2019.”
Tickets are $10 on Friday, $8 on Saturday and $5 on Sunday at the door, making it worthwhile to buy a three-day pass as the ticket will allow for re-entry for the rest of the weekend. Children under 12 are free. There is free parking.
