CCPD looking for driver of pickup that hit house, wound up in canal
Cape Coral police are continuing their efforts to identify the driver of a pickup truck that left the roadway, struck a house and then landed in a canal Tuesday night.The driver was able to get out of the truck and left the scene of the crash, police said.
The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 2800 block of Southwest 36th Terrace, a CCPD release issued Wednesday morning states.
The Cape Coral Fire Department Divers checked the interior of the truck and found no one inside. Officers were unable to locate or identify the driver and the truck could not immediately be to be towed from the canal due to its location in the canal, officials said.
The pickup was pulled from the canal around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
“The owner was located and reported the truck stolen,” the release states.
