The circus is coming once again to the Lee Civic Center this weekend for three days and eight performances.

The Garden Bros. Nuclear Circus, the oldest active circus in the United States, has performed for families for more than 100 years, and promises one of the best shows ever as it opens its 2021 season, which will feature “Humans Gone Wild.”

The shows will be Friday at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 1, 4, and 7 p.m.

Jim Davis, executive director for Stellar Entertainment, which produces the show, said the show is more driven by people and not with animals as circuses in the past.

“It seems the younger generations aren’t as excited about seeing animals as they are about seeing stunts and thrills that shouldn’t happen,” Davis said.

This three-ring event will feature more than 60 performers from around the world, and will feature 21st Century technology including special effects, concert lighting and much more.

The main acts include the Human Cannonball, Wheel of Death, Motorcycles in the Sphere of Fear, Human Slingshot, clowns will provide comedy routines the whole family will love, the strongest man in the world, Chinese acrobats and more.

They will have everyone laughing and gasping throughout the 90-minute show, organizers said. The nuclear thrill team keeps you on the edge of your seat with unbelievable motorcycle stunts.

As for animals, the only ones you’ll see will be the Cozak Trick Riders on horseback, as the use of more exotic animals is no longer popular.

“The trick riders are amazing to watch. One minute they’re standing on the horse, the next they’re underneath it. One slip and it’s a broken neck,” Davis said.

The new generation are not as thrilled to see animals put through their paces but do enjoy intense, high-skill — and potentially risky — human performances, he added.

“If that’s what they want, it’s what we’ll give them,” Davis said.

Free children’s tickets have been distributed to all elementary schools, pre-schools, daycare centers and churches.

Tickets are $14 for general admission, $15 for child general admission, $30 for adult general admission $17.50 for VIP Family ringside, $25 for child ringside seats and $40 for adult ringside. Parking is $5.
