Littleton Road roundabout now operational

By Staff | Nov 10, 2020

The Lee County Department of Transportation asks motorists to be aware of changes to the roundabout at Littleton Road and Corbett Road effective today, Tuesday, Nov. 10. The county’s contractor has deactivated the temporary signals and the roundabout is now operational.

The county reminds motorists to yield to vehicles in the roundabout when entering. For more information on how to drive a roundabout, visit http://littletonroadwidening.com/construction/.

Crews will continue to work in the area of the roundabout and motorists should follow all traffic control devices such as barrels, barricades and signs. Flagging operations may also be required for some work activities. The county reminds motorists of the new stop signs on Northeast 24th Avenue at the intersection of Littleton Road/Kismet Parkway. Cross traffic does not stop at Littleton Road/Kismet Parkway.

Crews continue work on Kismet Parkway building the eastbound to northbound turn lane. Prior to project completion, the contractor will be completing underground utility work and light-pole installation.

The Littleton Road-Kismet Parkway realignment project is a joint venture between the Lee Board of County Commissioners and the city of Cape Coral. The estimated $2 million cost will be paid from impact fees and contributions from the city of Cape Coral.

The construction project realigns Kismet Parkway and Littleton Road at Northeast 24th Avenue. The new intersection will be a 4-lane divided roadway with streetlights. There will be a 4-foot on-road bike lane on each side of the road. A 6-foot concrete sidewalk will be located on the north side of the new road with an 8-foot sidewalk located to the south of the new road.
