A Cape Coral church was vandalized in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Video released by the Cape Coral Police Department shows three suspects police say destroyed property and wrote inappropriate language on the walls of Gulf Coast Baptist Church around 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 18.

According to CCPD’s report, the suspects significantly damaged approximately seven rooms of the building. The report states officers found spray paint (including obscenities) on various walls, damaged electronics (computers, TVs), cleaning chemicals spread over the ceilings, carpet and laminate wood floors and the contents of a refrigerator spread throughout.

“The damage was extensive,” said a CCPD release.

An open window was observed on the south side of the building according to CCPD’s report and no person(s) were found inside.

The suspects were also seen trying to access vehicles nearby.

Marsy’s Law was invoked according to CCPD and a detective will follow up with a church representative to collect a sworn statement and a detailed property list/cost of damages.

“The amount of damage to the property is well over $1,000,” according to the CCPD report.

The CCPD is asking those with any information on the identity of the suspects to please contact Cape Police at 239-574-3223, submitting an anonymous tip at www.capecops.com/tips, https://new.tipsubmit.com/en/ create-report/anonymous sending a message through the CCPD’s social media platforms or calling Crimestoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS.
