Construction work for roadway and sidewalk improvements at the Cape Coral Parkway/Santa Barbara Boulevard intersection is set to begin next week. The project that was approved by City Council includes lane reconfiguration, removal of the pedestrian island, bridge deck maintenance, road paving, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, and storm drainage. The project will improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety. All upgrades will meet the Americans with Disabilities Act Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines when complete.

Paving activities will take place at night. Drivers should anticipate occasional moving lane closures and allow extra time when traveling in this area and be cautious of people working near the roadway.

The total project cost is $579,040. Funding for the construction is budgeted and coming from the Water and Sewer Fund and the General Fund. The contractor expects to complete the majority of the work before Thanksgiving.
