Lee Commission OK’s additional turn lane to ease congestion from Cape Coral Bridge
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tues-day to approve a contract to build an additional right turn lane from the Cape Coral Bridge Road onto McGregor Boulevard to alleviate traffic congestion.
The board has prioritized projects to improve east-west corridors throughout Lee County to improve traffic flow.
The $159,365 contract, with Pavement Mainte-nance, LLC of Fort Myers, includes all paving, drainage and concrete improvements for the turn lane.
The project is included in the joint project list between the County and the city of Cape Coral and is eligible to be funded with surplus from tolls on the Cape Coral Bridge and the Midpoint Bridge.
Construction will begin in later this month and take about six months to complete, the county said.
