Kismet Parkway to temporarily close at Northeast 23rd Place

By Staff | Oct 2, 2020

The Lee County Department of Transportation is asking motorists to be aware of the upcoming temporary closure of Kismet Parkway at Northeast 23rd Place starting 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Kismet Parkway will be closed in both directions at Northeast 23rd Place as crews complete underground utility work for the city of Cape Coral. Kismet Parkway is expected to reopen Thursday, Oct. 15, weather permitting.

Motorists may use Northeast 22nd Avenue to Northeast 24th Terrace to Northeast 24th Avenue, or other local roads as a detour.

Motorists also are reminded of new stop signs on Northeast 24th Avenue at Littleton Road/Kismet Parkway for northbound and southbound traffic. The roundabout at Littleton Road/Corbett Road is now partially open to vehicles. Motorists are urged to follow traffic signals as crews continue work in the roundabout.

The Littleton Road-Kismet Parkway realignment project is a joint venture between the Lee Board of County Commissioners and the city of Cape Coral. The estimated $2 million cost will be paid from impact fees and contributions from the city of Cape Coral.

The construction project realigns Kismet Parkway and Littleton Road at NE 24th Avenue. The new intersection will be a four-lane divided roadway with streetlights at the intersection and roundabout. There will be a 4-foot, on-road bike lane on each side of the road. A 6-foot concrete sidewalk will be located on the north side of the new road with an 8-foot sidewalk located to the south of the new road.

The project is expected to be completed in mid-December.
