Matt Caldwell

Tuesday’s Primary Election result saw Matt Caldwell earning the Republican nomination in the race for Lee County Property Appraiser.

Caldwell received 59.47 percent of the vote (46,015 votes) while his opponent, Matt Miller, received 40.53 percent (31,363 votes).

“It’s really a fantastic honor (to be the Republican nominee),” Caldwell said. “I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished here in Lee County over the last decade and the chance to follow in the footsteps of somebody like (outgoing property appraiser) Ken Wilkinson who shaped state-wide policy when it comes to real estate taxes and looking out for the best interest of voters.

“It’s a great opportunity, I’m excited about it.”

Caldwell will go on to the General Election where a write-in candidate, Elaina Cosentino, has qualified.

Caldwell said the plan going forward is to “continue to share the message.”

“(We need to) make sure the voters know what we stand for, what (my) qualifications are — my background as a real estate appraiser and private practice and my vision to continue to the legacy of being an advocate for the taxpayer.”

Caldwell, 38 is a life-long Lee County resident and Property Appraiser at Maxwell, Hendry, & Simmons Property Appraiser and Partner at TM Strategic Consulting.
