Man charged with aggravated battery in drive-by shooting

By Staff | Aug 12, 2020

A man already charged with making electronic threats related to a June drive-by shooting in Cape Coral has now been charged in connection with the shooting itself, the Cape Coral Police Department reported Wednesday.

Ryan Jastrow, 36, was charged Wednesday with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle.

The investigation began on June 24 after Cape Coral Police patrol officers responded to the Hurricane Grill & Wings at 756 SW Pine Island Road shortly after 10 p.m. to investigate a shooting call. Responding officers were told that a person in a vehicle driving eastbound on Pine Island Road had fired multiple shots towards the restaurant. One person in the outdoor seating area sustained an injury as a result of the shooting.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit began investigating the case and, five days later on June 29, charged Jastrow with making written threats to kill and aggravated stalking.

“The investigation to connect Jastrow to the shooting itself continued, and detectives were able to develop probable cause to charge Jastrow with the shooting,” the CCPD release states. “Jastrow turned himself in to Cape Coral Police on the morning of August 12th, and was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. He was transported to the Lee County Jail.”

Bond had not been set as of 3 p.m. and Jastrow remained in custody.
