County operations adjust Memorial Day schedules

Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

The county’s holiday schedule adjustments are as follows:

Solid Waste

All garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, the City of Bonita Springs, the Village of Estero and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will take place one day after the regularly scheduled collection day for the entire week beginning May 25. This means that if your regular collection day is Monday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Tuesday. Tuesday’s regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Wednesday and so on for the rest of the week through Saturday, May 30. Regular collection schedules resume on Monday, June 1.

Lee County Solid Waste facilities and offices are closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the holiday. This includes the operation at the Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, 6441 Topaz Court, and the Resource Recovery Facility on Buckingham Road.

Solid Waste urges all residents to recycle the plastic, metal and glass from Memorial Day weekend activities.

Lee County Utilities

The offices of Lee County Utilities will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

Parks & Recreation

Parks and preserves remain open, including amenities such as playgrounds, pavilions, courts and fields. Visitors are asked to observe Centers for Disease Control guidelines, including social distancing. The Lakes Park splash pads are open. Pools are open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Friday) and Saturday for lap swimming only. Pools are closed Sunday and Monday. They reopen at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 26. Offices and recreation centers remain closed at this time.

Libraries

Library Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 25. Beginning Tuesday, May 26, the Cape Coral Lee County Library, East County Regional Library, Fort Myers Regional Library, Northwest Regional Library and South County Regional Library will open at 10 a.m. with limited hours, services and at 25% capacity. Branches will resume scheduled Contactless Curbside Holds Pickup hours on Tuesday, May 26. Library online resources are available 24/7 at www.leegov.com/library/online.

LeeTran

LeeTran will not run bus, trolley or paratransit service on the holiday, Monday, May 25. Service resumes Tuesday, May 26.

Animal Services

Animal Services will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the holiday. The Lost and Found and adoption center will reopen Tuesday, May 26, from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Please call 533-7387 to schedule.
