R.Y.A.N. House Benefit Friday at Faith Presbyterian
A fundraiser set for Friday will benefit a local halfway house for women in recovery.
The R.Y.A.N. House Benefit will be held from 6-9 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church. Regenerate Your Authentic Nature, or R.Y.A.N., is a non-profit organization that offers services to women seeking “to live a new way of life.” It runs a transitional home for women, called the R.Y.A.N. Hope House.
Nita Spitler, who is helping to coordinate the fundraiser, explained that a group of volunteers is organizing the event for R.Y.A.N. The organization is hoping to add more beds to the home.
“The home needs the carport to become a dormitory,” she said.
“It’s a fairly new halfway house,” Spitler added.
The fundraiser will feature live entertainment, a silent auction, prizes and more.
Tickets are available online in advance or at the door.
“We’ve got a room that will accommodate maybe 400 (people),” she said.
Organizers are hoping to raise as much money as possible.
“We’d like to fill the place,” Spitler said.
The Memory Makers, a local “Big Band,” will perform at the event.
“This is an 18-piece dance band,” she said. “This band has played at the Edison & Ford (Winter) Estates. They’ve played around the community.”
“They will play music all the way from the ’40s to the ’90s,” Spitler added.
The silent auction will feature a range of items, including tickets aboard the Key West Express, an overnight stay at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, a foursome of golf at The Landings Yacht Golf and Tennis Club, a private boat outing with lunch at Rumrunners and pieces of jewelry.
“These are pieces that people are donating,” she said of the fine jewelry.
There will also be themed packages.
“We’ve got an athletic package,” Spitler said, noting that it includes a month at a gym, sessions with a personal trainer and massages. “We’ve got a lot of prizes for dog loves – grooming and boarding.”
“We’ve got some artwork, too,” she added.
Attendees can buy tickets for a shot at prizes, like gift certificates for restaurants and services.
“We’ve got a variety,” Spitler said of the items up for grabs.
People can also purchase homemade desserts from a gourmet chef on site.
“She’s preparing all of the desserts,” she said.
The founders of R.Y.A.N., Judy and Franz Regner, will talk a little about the organization and its mission. The home’s house mother and a few of the program participants will also be on hand.
“What we’re trying to do is give these women another chance that they really deserve,” Spitler said.
“If we help them, the women, then their children also have a chance at life,” she added.
Tickets are $12.50 in advance or $15 at the door. Monetary donations will be accepted online and at the fundraiser.
Faith Presbyterian Church is at 4544 Coronado Parkway.
