Man wanted in Fort Myers bank robbery apprehended in the Cape

A man accused of robbing a bank in Fort Myers was located and arrested

Tuesday morning in Cape Coral.

Ronald Alan Reese, 51, a transient, was found at 312 S.E. 24th Ave. just

before 10:30 a.m. after the Cape Coral Police Department received a tip,

according to Fort Myers Police Department spokeswoman Shelly Flynn.

“He was walking in the 300 block of Southeast 24th Avenue reading a paper

when our officer saw him,” Connie Barron, spokeswoman for the Cape Coral

Police Department, said.

Reese was charged with one felony count of robbery with a weapon. He

remained in the Lee County Jail with no bond Tuesday, according to booking

records. He has a court date set for May 10.

The Fort Myers Police Department received a call at 10:29 a.m. Monday about

a bank robbery at the First Community Bank of Southwest Florida, located at

1565 Red Cedar Drive in Fort Myers. The man handed a teller a note demanding

money and implied that he had a weapon, Flynn reported.

The teller handed the man an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled the

scene on foot, according to Flynn. Police later identified the man as Reese

and sought the public’s help in locating him by using a physical

description.
