Animal services offering free pet adoptions for vets
Lee County Animal Services is honoring veterans in November by offering free adoptions.
According to a prepared statement, LCAS is reaching out to the “community heroes who served their country, affording all Americans the freedoms we continue to enjoy today.”
This is the second year the agency has offered free adoptions to veterans, according to Ria Brown, LCAS spokeswoman.
“It really gives us a chance to do something for our veterans and at the same time promote our animals,” she said.
Active and retired military personnel with proper identification are being asked to come by and help out a needy animal, and pick up a new friend along the way.
The adoption includes spaying or neutering, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea treatment, heartworm test for dogs 6 months and over, feline AIDS and leukemia test for cats, Lee County pet license for pets 3 months and over, 10-day pet adoption health guarantee, microchip ID and a bag of pet food.
Brown added that pictures of available animals are up on the LCAS Web site, but change often.
