Grand opening of The Sanctuary set for Sunday

By Staff | Mar 17, 2009

Community residents are invited to attend the grand opening of Lee Memorial Health System’s newest location, The Sanctuary on Sunday, March 22, from noon to 3 p.m. Guests will be able to tour the two new patient care buildings, the Regional Cancer Center and the Outpatient Center. The Sanctuary is located at 8931 Colonial Center Drive, just north of Colonial Blvd. between Ortiz Avenue and I-75.

Regional Cancer Center

Some of the very finest cancer programs and treatments are happening right here in our community at the Regional Cancer Center. LMHS is proud to present this state-of-the-art Regional Cancer Center, a place of hope and healing, that provides some of the most progressive and successful oncology treatments available today. You’ll be greeted by an environment that is serene and peaceful with an Asian-inspired Healing Garden and water features designed for patient meditation and reflection. The Regional Care Center began seeing patients in October, 2008.

Outpatient Center

The Outpatient Center is a brand new 80,000-square-foot facility with a multitude of services in one state-of-the-art location.

Like the other Outpatient Centers, The Sanctuary will offer patients and family members a range of diagnostic services, such as MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, X-rays and nuclear medicine studies. There will also be cardiovascular services, including stress testing, echocardiograms, electrocardiograms and a vascular lab.

The Outreach Center will also house LMHS’s Spine Center which is part of a comprehensive, wellness-based program that offers coordinated care for back and neck pain.

The only digital mammograms in Fort Myers and Cape Coral will be offered at the Breast Health Center within the Outpatient Center. Other services offered will include bone density testing, rehabilitation services and an outpatient lab. In addition, there will be Lee Physician Group primary care offices and Lee Physician Specialists.

An ambulatory surgery center will open at the Center in 2010.
