Sheriff’s Office: Murder suspect apprehended
A man sought in connection with a murder and home invasion robbery in Charlotte County is in custody. Twenty-six year old Christopher Shanks of Fort Myers was allegedly involved in the felony crime which occurred during the nighttime hours on Nov. 3, 2008, in Port Charlotte.
This afternoon, the Lee County / U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, comprised of members from the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, located Shanks at a Fort Myers home.
Acting on information developed during the investigation, task force members descended on a possible location at 5459 Tenth Avenue, in the Pine Manor Community, in Fort Myers. At approximately 1:30 p.m., Shanks was taken into custody without incident. He will be transported to the Charlotte County jail and booked on charges of second degree murder and home invasion robbery.
