VIP tickets still available to Cape Jazz and Blues Festival
With the temperatures expected to be in the mid-80s, special events coordinator Todd King expects the the upcoming Jazz and Blues Festival to be a huge success.
“Tickets sales are going great,” said King. “We were expected to have 3,000 people in attendance, and I think we are right on track with that goal.”
Tickets for the event are $20 in advance or $25 at the gate and children under 12 will be admitted free. King said they also still have some VIP tickets available which are being offered for $40 per person.
This price includes parking in Jaycee Park as well as catered food and wines from a local winery in Cape Coral.
The event, now in its 19th year, is part of the city’s Celebrate Cape Coral, a month- long series of events designed to celebrate hometown pride and showcase all that the Cape has to offer.
Little Eddie and the Fat Fingers, the opening act, is comprised of four members who hail from Lee County.
Mario Infanti and the Cat Man Doodz will follow and they are a five-member band which hails from Southwest Florida.
Headlining the show is nationally known Boney James. According to his Web site bio, Boney was born in Massachusetts and raised in New Rochelle, N.Y. and began playing music at the tender age of eight.
By the age of 10, he was urged to take up the saxophone by his music teacher and fell in love with jazz. He has worked with such big names in music as The Isley Brothers, Randy Crawford, Sheena Easton, Ray Parker, Jr., and Bobby Caldwell.
“We are so excited to have a Grammy award-winning musician at our event,” said King.
The city also is bringing in a jumbo tron, which will give concert-goers a better view on the performing artists.
King said one of the best things about the event is the fact that attendees are allowed to bring in their own their own lawn chairs, coolers and blankets. In fact, he added that many people take advantage of that and bring elaborate setups with dinnerware and candelabras.
Vendors will be set up throughout Jaycee Park for people who wish to purchase food at the event instead.
“This is going to be a great event, it has a nice American sound, and it be wonderful to come and bring the family and have a good time,” said King.
The concert will be held at 5 p.m. on March 29. Gates will open at 3 p.m. for festival field seating.
