Unexpected hotel guests: coyote pups
BELLEAIR (AP) – A hotel on Florida’s Gulf Coast had six tiny, furry guests staying on the property recently: coyote pups.
The pups were found on the grounds of the Belleair Biltmore Hotel last week. A local animal trapper collected the young canines, and they were taken to a local animal hospital. The mother was not found. Officials say something likely happened to the pups’ mother because she would have kept her offspring in a den.
All are healthy and are eating dog food.
Veterinarian Don Woodman says goal is to get the pups ready to be adopted out to zoos or wildlife education centers.
