Man sentenced for turtle egg thefts
RIVIERA BEACH (AP) – A South Florida man who pleaded guilty to stealing the eggs of endangered sea turtles has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
A judge sentenced 48-year-old Kenneth Coleman, of Riviera Beach, on Thursday, two months after he pleaded guilty to the crime.
Authorities say Coleman made off with 123 green sea turtle eggs. It’s estimated they would sell on the black market for more than $350 apiece.
