Pizza delivery woman killed
JACKSONVILLE (AP) – A Jacksonville pizza delivery woman was killed by two men who called her to deliver at a vacant apartment.
Police say it was the second such incident in the area in the past few days. On Thursday a driver had a gun thrust in his stomach, but wasn’t shot.
The driver killed Friday night wasn’t immediately identified. Police were still searching for the men who lured her there and shot her in the chest, just steps from her van.
A neighbor who rushed to help said the woman took a few breaths, then went unconscious. She was pronounced dead after being transported to Shands Jacksonville Hospital.
It was Jacksonville’s 100th homicide in 2009, an improvement over last year. In 2008 the city had 144 killings.
