Inspectors to conduct pet store sweep
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Inspectors with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will be conducting a sweep of pet stores to make sure they are complying with state law this holiday season.
Agency inspectors want to make sure dogs and cats are at least 8 weeks old when offered for sale and accompanied by a Florida health certificate documenting required vaccinations and tests.
They’ll be visiting stores and pet dealers over the next five weeks.
The department is also advising consumers not to buy on impulse and contact the seller immediately if there is a problem. Consumers wishing to file a complaint can contact 1-800-HELP-FLA.
