NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) – A New Port Richey woman who killed her 2-year-old son in 2007, telling officers she was trying to “kill the demons,” has died at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee.

A public defender says 26-year-old Jessica V. Warren was found dead in her bathroom the morning of Oct. 4. An official cause of death has not been determined, but the attorney says it’s most likely either natural causes or suicide.

Authorities say Warren stabbed her son to death June 14, 2007, and then tried to kill herself. Warren’s brother found Jeremiah Oshinkanlu’s body when he went to her home, where she was bleeding and crying in the living room.

Warren had initially been charged with second-degree murder, but a judge found her incompetent to stand trial and ordered her sent to a mental hospital.
