FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) – A Port St. Lucie man convicted of running a large-scale marijuana grow house operation has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

A St. Lucie County judge sentenced 48-year-old Roberto Alberto Cepero on Wednesday. He was convicted Oct. 1 of conspiracy to traffic in marijuana, trafficking in more than 25 pounds of marijuana and racketeering.

Cepero’s girlfriend, 42-year-old Sonia Del Risco Polls was sentenced to seven years for conspiracy to traffic in marijuana and trafficking in more than 25 pounds of marijuana. She was acquitted of racketeering.

Authorities say Cepero oversaw an extensive marijuana growing business, and Polls was responsible for teaching “farmers” at several grow houses how to cultivate marijuana.

The couple was initially arrested nearly two years ago.
