Couple charged with arson after eviction
DAVIE, Fla. (AP) – A Davie couple is facing arson charges after authorities say they received an eviction notice and torched their mobile home.
Police say 28-year-old Nicole Slone and 18-year-old Timothy Rodriguez purposefully set the Monday morning fire that destroyed their home. A detective from the state’s Bureau of Fire and Arson reported finding traces of an accelerant throughout the house.
According to police, the property manager of the Western Hills Estates had sent an eviction notice to the homeowners stating that they had to be out by Saturday. It was not clear why they were being evicted.
Slone and Rodriguez were arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of arson each. They were each being held $22,500 bail.
