Man surrenders after hostage situation
PALM BAY, Fla. (AP) – A Palm Bay man surrendered to police nearly seven hours after reportedly taking his wife and two children hostage.
Police say 39-year-old Christopher Lynch was taken into custody Tuesday morning. The hostage situation began Monday shortly before midnight, possibly over the wife’s affair. The woman’s boyfriend reportedly called police and said Lynch had beaten the woman and was holding her, their 11-year-old daughter and their 14-year-old son at gunpoint.
Police say Lynch eventually released his wife, and the children sneaked out while he was asleep. Crisis negotiators persuaded Lynch to surrender around 6 a.m.
