Wildlife officials use fish poison on piranha pond

1 min read

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – State wildlife officials are treating a West Palm Beach pond where two piranhas were discovered last month.

Wildlife officials say they hope the chemical fish poison will kill any other piranhas that might still be in the retention pond.

A teenager caught one piranha in the pond last month. Florida Fish and Wildlife officials caught the second a few days later.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says it’s against the law to own a piranha in Florida.
