Man convicted in mall shooting

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) – Jurors have convicted a Lantana man of a fatal Christmas Eve shooting inside the Boynton Beach mall.

Wilson Pierre now faces a faces a minimum of 25 years in prison. He was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in connection with the death of 24-year-old Berno Charlemond.

Police say the fatal shooting inside the mall on Dec. 24, 2006, was gang-related. Investigators initially arrested another man in the shooting, but he was later released.

Pierre is scheduled to be sentenced in late December. His attorney says he plans to appeal the verdict.
