Coast Guard rescues 2 men clinging to boat
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – The Coast Guard has rescued two men found clinging to the hull of a capsized boat.
Authorities began searching for the boaters Sunday morning, after a friend contacted the Coast Guard to report that the men’s 16-foot pleasure craft was taking on water.
A smallboat crew and helicopter scanned the waters off South Florida and located the boaters about three hours later. They were about six miles off Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
Both men were wearing life jackets and safely taken to shore.
The men’s names were not released.
