Man gets life for shaking child to death
SANFORD, Fla. (AP) – A Winter Springs man has been sentenced to life in prison for shaking his 2 1/2-month-old daughter to death.
The Seminole County judge sentenced 23-year-old Ventrel Gammons Monday. He was convicted last month of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.
Samiyah Gammons was fatally injured at her home in May 2007. She was taken off life support and died two days later.
Gammons’ attorney said during the trial that there was no evidence Gammons had abused his child.
