Man fatally stabbed during Fantasy Fest
KEY WEST (AP) – A man was fatally stabbed in a fight during Fantasy Fest in Key West.
Police said 23-year-old Marques Butler was stabbed at 4 a.m. Saturday in an apparent fight during Fantasy Fest, the island city’s annual costuming and masking festival. It didn’t occur during any official festival event.
Authorities responded to the scene and transported Butler to the Lower Keys Medical Center where he underwent surgery and died shortly after.
Butler’s death is considered a homicide case, and the investigation continues.
Police said this is the first homicide to occur during the festival’s 30-year history.
