TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – A 25-year-old Army specialist from Plant City has been killed by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

Eric Lembke’s body was returned to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Sunday.

Those who knew Lembke say he was a devoted family man. He worked at a Plant City grocery store and graduated from Plant City High before joining the Army two years ago. He and his wife were transferred to Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2008.

Friends say Lembke was deployed Feb. 14, and his unit’s tour was supposed to end in 2010.
