Teacher agrees to 4-year suspension

LAND O’LAKES (AP) – A Tampa Bay middle school teacher who resigned after going to work drunk has agreed to have her teaching license suspended for four years.

Kylene Nelson, who previously taught language arts at Rushe Middle School in Land O’Lakes, could have had her license revoked permanently after the March incident. But if the state’s Education Practices Commission approves the agreement later this month, Nelson will be able to return to the classroom after June 2013. She will be on probation for three years after.

Under the agreement with the Florida Department of Education, Nelson would have to undergo substance-abuse counseling.
