Fort Lewis service for 3 killed in Afghanistan

FORT LEWIS, Wash. (AP) – Fort Lewis is holding a memorial service Wednesday for the families and friends of three soldiers killed Sept. 24 in Afghanistan when their vehicle was it by a homemade bomb in Omar Zai.

The soldiers were members of the 5th Stryker brigade that was deployed in July: 30-year-old Sgt. Edward B. Smith of Homestead, Fla.; 23-year-old Sgt. Titus R. Reynolds, of Columbus, Ohio, and 21-year-old Spc. Joseph V. White, of Bellevue.

The service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at North Fort Chapel.
