Tampa officer seriously injured in car crash
TAMPA, (AP) – Authorities say a Tampa police officer was seriously injured when a truck crashed into his patrol car.
Police say 56-year-old Michael D. Noyes was responding to a motorcycle accident Monday morning when a truck turned left from a stop sign and pulled out in front of the patrol car – which had its lights and siren on.
Noyes was taken to a hospital with head injuries that were not life threatening.
The truck driver, identified as 53-year-old George Malcolm, was not seriously injured.
Charges have not yet been filed as the accident is being investigated.
Both cars were destroyed in the crash.
Noyes is a 23-year veteran of the Tampa Police Department.
