Man charged with punching police dog
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) – Authorities say a convicted felon punched and tried to drown a police dog in a canal while trying to get away from drug agents.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that undercover deputies bought drugs from 45-year-old Michael Lee Holden Wednesday afternoon. Deputies followed Holden after the buy, but the man ran toward a canal.
A police dog found Holden hiding under water, and deputies say Holden struck the animal at least five time and tried to hold its head under water. Deputies say they pulled Holden off the dog and arrested him.
Holden faces multiple charges, including battery on a law enforcement officer.
