Commissioner wants to intervene in suit
TALLAHASSEE (AP) – Florida Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson wants to challenge a legal settlement involving the Environmental Protection Agency that could impose costly nutrient standards for state water bodies.
Bronson said Thursday he wants to intervene in a proposed settlement between the federal agency and a Florida environmental group. The South Florida Water Management District has already intervened.
The settlement would result in nutrient standards Bronson says would cost the state billions.
Bronson said they would dramatically exceed other states. He called them arbitrary and unreasonable.
