Man’s leg severed after store explosion
MIAMI (AP) – A worker dismantling gas storage tanks at a Miami convenience store was badly injured after an explosion.
Fire officials say the 38-year-old man’s left leg was severed below the knee in Tuesday accident.
The workers were cleaning and taking up three big gas drums that hadn’t been used in more than 20 years. A spark from a large saw apparently ignited fumes, prompting the explosion.
The victim was rushed to the hospital. Emergency officials also rushed his severed leg in hopes of reattaching it.
