Pond searched for missing girl

1 min read

PALATKA (AP) – Putnam County authorities say a search of a large pond was in response to one of more than 4,000 tips received about a missing north Florida girl.

The sheriff’s office issued a statement Saturday saying divers were conducting underwater searches, but that the body of Haleigh Cummings has not been found.

The brother of the missing girl’s baby sitter spoke with investigators this week after being arrested on a grand theft charge.

Although the sheriff’s office said it wasn’t related to Haleigh Cummings’ disappearance, Hank Croslin agreed to be questioned about that case. Authorities say three other inmates also were questioned.

Croslin’s sister, Misty, was baby-sitting Haleigh when the girl vanished from her father’s mobile home in February.
