Regulator will not step down from case
TALLAHASSEE (AP) – A utility regulator has refused to step down from Florida Power & Light Co.’s rate case.
A citizen had asked Public Service Commissioner Katrina McMurrian to recuse herself because she had dinner in March with an FPL executive and others participating in an economic conference in New York.
McMurrian issued a written order Wednesday saying Florida law permits the five commissioners to “attend conferences and associated meals” as long as they aren’t sponsored by regulated utilities.
The Standard and Poors credit rating service sponsored the conference.
