AG files suit against ‘literary company’
TALLAHASSEE (AP) – The state has filed a lawsuit against a Boca Raton company accused of preying on aspiring authors.
Attorney General Bill McCollum announced the lawsuit Thursday against Writer’s Literary Agency and owner Robert Fletcher. They’re accused of offering critiques and publishing help to authors while collecting about $600,000 a year. But the lawsuit said authors were misled about fees and costs, and that very few books were ever sold.
More than 175 complaints from around the world filed complaints against the company.
The lawsuit seeks to stop the companies and Fletcher from operating in the field and full restitution for the alleged victims.
