Police: Man threatens cab driver on $6 fare
TAMPA (AP) – The Tampa Police Department says a 22-year-old man who refused to pay a $6 cab fare threatened the driver with a handgun and sparked a standoff with authorities.
According to a news release, Andrew Jason Hickey faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and petit theft. Online jail records indicate Hickey was being held on $2,250 bond. It is unclear if he already has an attorney.
Police said officers responded to Hickey’s house Sunday night after receiving a call from the cab driver, who told authorities about the threat. Hickey shut himself inside the home, told police dispatchers that he was armed and intoxicated, and he threatened the driver and police.
