MIAMI (AP) – The son of a Miami district fire chief has drowned in a central Florida lake.

The body of Philip Ledea, 17, was found Saturday by divers. He had been boating with friends on Big Lake Henderson near Ocala. Friends told authorities he jumped overboard on Friday to cool himself. He came up for air once but then went under again and did not resurface.

Ledea’s father is Miami District Fire Chief Philip A. Ledea, a 27-year veteran of the department.

Investigators are calling Ledea’s death an accident and do not suspect foul play. An autopsy is planned.
